Cup Interview with prs100uk

HPE-Bink286 met up with prs100uk manager of Red N Blue Return, ahead of the s71 R4 Cup fixtures to ask the manager of the lowest ranked team left in the English Cup (who face EPL Champions Asgard next) a few questions.

In R3 last week (641736415) you beat II.1 team Rusty Penguins(954409). Did you expect to win and who was your man of the match?

I knew I had a chance with my first team. We had a really tough V.90 (6437) last season where it was a real scrap to avoid relegation (both the teams to go down were human managers which is very unusual for Div.V), so when we got two bots promoted into our league this season I decided to try a little cup run at the expense of the league.

If there is one thing the guys in V.90 will tell you about my team it is that I do love using a cheap OAP in a non-training slot. So having my £667 signing Steve Carson (376240703) come in for his 36 minute 8.5 star cameo gave me great pleasure.

Between 2003 and 2009 you managed George Carey's Red N Blue Farmy. You were the owner of an England legend, George Carey. Please tell us a bit about how you acquired him, his best match, the training schedule and how you managed his wages, and what happened to him in the end?

Ah, George ‘The Archbishop’ Carey! So first of all, I was originally just Red N Blue Army and played competitively between Aug 2003 and Nov 2006 reaching a peak league position of 3rd in Div.III but my interest was slipping by the end of this period.

Then in Nov 2006 the then England manager posted on the forum that Carey had been unexpectedly transfer listed and asked if anyone could help by giving him a home. With £16m in the bank I stepped in and purchased him. This was effectively my resignation from competitive Hattrick the first time round: (7298821.49)

This was also back in the day of mono-skilled players so he (The Archbishop) was multiple levels above divine with a weekly wage of £873,906. Training was simple, just more and more and more goalkeeper training. His best match is here (143645543) where he obtained 22 stars, which I think is still a record.

The name change to George Carey's Red N Blue Farmy was just a pun coupled with the fact the crazy wages of the big mono-skill players resulted in a lot of the top international players being specifically housed in teams who had checked out of competitive play, to become farm teams for the NT.

In the end, injuries ended his career. He took one big injury which we cured by making him a coach (amazing what that does for recovery) but the second big injury was career ending and at that point I left Hattrick for the first time.

Your team current team started in September 2016. What brought you back to the game, and what have you been doing with the team?

I came back after an email from Hattrick asking for the manager of Red N Blue Army to return to lead his former team to glory, how could I refuse?

I’m currently building a golden generation team with a core of players that have come out of my youth team. I was quite lucky in having 6 players come out where their ages are within 56 days of each other and then a few others of similar age purchased in to complete a group. Within there I have Richard 'Old Mother' Hubbard (435191215) who is homegrown and is currently playing for the U20s and Dennis 'Gnarls' Barkley (435283984) who has also had 5 caps in preparation for the current WC qualifying campaign.

The long term plan is to cycle through Def, PM, Wing, & Pass training and then buy in the Scoring talent.

You are a Crystal Palace fan. Interesting times for Palace, who have come on leaps and bounds since Roy took charge. Just how inspirational is he as a manager, and how long do you think he'll stay in the job before he decides to retire?

It’s been a touch disappointing this season, despite some good results away, our home form has been nothing short of awful and as a season ticket holder that is obviously where I see them most often. I thought we would kick on after the way we finished last season but we massively miss Cabaye and Loftus-Cheek and their ability to carry the ball up the pitch.

I suspect Roy will say on for another season but I wouldn’t be surprised to see him go at the end of the 19/20 season.

You are fairly active in the non-ht England forum, playing some role play games. What have been the 3 best games you've been involved in and why?

This has been an unexpected form of entertainment within the confines of hattrick, but yes a fair size group of us have converted the non-HT England forum into a venue for these Mafia style games.

I’m not sure I can pick three but the recent Thomas The Tank Engine game (17242601.1) was great fun (people will have to come and visit if that has peaked their interest)

What was the last book you read, and would you recommend it?

I picked up “More Than Just A Game: Football v Apartheid” (https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/5112pIw9UgL._SX326_BO1,204,203,200_.jpg) for 10p from a second hand book sale. It’s the story of the political prisoners held on Robben Island and their struggle to form a league within the prison in the face of their surroundings. I would highly recommend it.

It has been awhile since Hattrick introduced the new specialty element to the match engine. If you had a choice between playing a powerful forward, powerful sitting midfielder or a powerful man marker in your team as it progresses up the league, which would you choose and why?

Tough choice, I’m hopefully going to end up with a team with both a powerful forward and a sitting midfielder but if I had to go for one it would be the powerful forward.

If you could choose something to eat/snack upon while watching your Cup game this week what would it be?

A mix of roasted peanuts and cashew nuts please.

What is your favourite building or architectural design, and why?

I think it has to be the Natural History Museum, beautiful from both inside and outside.
