Cup Interview with ob_elector

This week HPE-Bink286 dons protective gear and immerses himself into a horrifying world of pain, corruption, vice and life destroying addiction as he takes a look into the seedy and gritty underbelly of the ht lower leagues with a disgruntled and world weary manager embarking on an undeserved payday and hiding to nothing in round five.

1. In R4 last week (641896095) you defeated twice former Cup winners and former EPL Champions Red flag flies at dawn, who are managed by the Armenian NT manager, Red. You must have been delighted to win that?

Not really, I was initially annoyed to get such a high ranking team so early but you can see it for what it really was. In the end it was not a contest for reasons that were out of my hands but in my favour which was an unexpected gift. I won’t complain at another cup gate. Just take the advantages ht offers you along the way and enjoy the ride. Obviously that ends this week, but that’s the cup for you. Of course, there is always a tiny chance, as the numerous and tiresome complaint threads about unfair results will attest to but that is true of all games at all times.

2. You started the club in September 2003, and reached a club peak of 3rd in III.1 in s58 (13 seasons ago) and have made R7 of the Cup a few times. The team looks to be rebuilding, what's the current plan, and who are your key players?

I’m convinced that HT is primarily one big mind control experiment headed by the Swedish government. I have phases of interest and disinterest but I’m still here as I use the mail system as my primary email. I would do a rebuild but I always lose interest at some point given the time it takes and the motivation to actually compete in the top leagues, I'm still looking for trainees, 12 seasons and counting. It becomes more of a chore for me really the higher you go, like those people who love to cook for themselves, so go and work in a restaurant thinking it’d be a dream job, then realize that working split shifts and chopping onions all day isn’t that great after all.

As so called shortcuts to success have been cut off so the competition has also diminished somewhat. A shame really, but I have neither the patience nor desire to go through the motions required to go much higher in HT these days.

I think my overall aim is to log in for long enough that everybody else has left the game and I finally win through the psychological torment and by proxy the overall war of HT through shear bloody minded attrition. I guess you could say I'm playing the long game, and after all, HT is all about long term strategies so I read.

3. Your manager page states that you support several lesser well known clubs. Altrincham in England (one of 3 ht-fans), A.S Viterbese Calcio in Italy, Chornomorets Odesa in Ukraine, as well as Lithuanian side FK Žalgiris and Moldivan side FC Academia Utm Chişinău (one of 2 ht-fans). Please tell us a little bit about this and why you've nailed your colours to their masts?

I've spent many a Saturday morning playing football on the Academia artificial pitch in Chisinau with some old former USSR players, sometimes 18/19 a side. All good fun. I've also been to see the other sides as I was living in those places at one point or another, most recently Chernomorets, they have a very small but quite unhinged group of ‘ultras’ I would go to watch them with, not that I particularly wanted to, I was just terrified of saying no to my Kalashnikov wielding neighbour who was delighted to have a ‘real English fan’ joining them.

4. Your fan club Bianco Verde Tifosi (translates to fans of green & white) and your stadium гигантский топор (translates to Giant Axe) what was the inspiration behind these choices?

Again this is testament to other… and I don’t want to sound unkind here, because I mean this in the most respectful way possible, but TINPOT clubs I have great affection for, mainly Lancaster City who play at one and the no longer only GIANT AXE; whom I still follow, despite them ejecting me from a reserve game for over enthusiastically and slightly threateningly demanding a change in leadership - at boardroom level no less; following a few halves of lager in the Dolly Blue tavern many years ago (https://lostboyos.files.wordpress.com/2014/01/lanc11.jpg).

5. If there was a song you'd choose for your team to run out onto the pitch before facing the Champions of England this week, what would it be (please provide a link to utube/vimeo)?

6. What was the last book you read, and would you recommend it? How about TV programmes?

Last book I read was WE by Yevgeny Zamyatin, interesting enough if you’re into that kind of thing (I am) (https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/518NyrtPIkL._SX306_BO1,204,203,200_.jpg).

And as for TV, anything produced by Richplanet.net is generally pretty interesting. (https://www.richplanet.net/)

7. If you had to spend £1,000 on one stock/share/equity holding for a public company to hold for exactly one year which one would you choose for 2019/20 and why?

Id probably spend the lot on scaletrix cars and crash them all into furniture giving me the kind of eye watering depreciation that only new BMW owners could relate to.

8. It has been awhile since hattrick introduced the new speciality element to the match engine. If you had a choice between playing a powerful forward, powerful sitting midfielder or a powerful man marker in your team as it progresses up the league, which would you choose and why?

I honestly have no idea, will have to look into it, my match engine knowledge is probably still stuck in 2003/4. 442 innit, big lads up top, lollipops ont wing.

9. Surely as a massive underdog from V this cup run should have all of the series rooting for you, do you have any words for your league rivals?

I expect many will, however not all as a recent opponent has already at this early stage of the season taken to gloating on the series form about a league leading recent win. This is an interesting take on MIND GAMES as this manager is heaping pressure upon himself with nothing to gain; as FAILURE to win the series now would be UNTHINKABLE. But this insult to the league participants will surely result in all of them playing MATCH OF THE SEASON against him. But for sure this crowing is a true measure of just how confident he must be, and that has to be admired, especially by us journeymen HT managers, toiling away with scant reward or recognition, forgotten in the basement leagues of HT.

10. What is your favourite building or architectural design, and why?

The UK nuclear bunker network and the missile silos in Ukraine are just two testaments to how utterly insane people can be. You can go to one of the old soviet silos (now a museum) sit in the chair and press the red button (its grey), quite funny really, shame it wasn’t armed as I'd have aimed it to land on the Reebok Stadium, or failing that anywhere where it could instantly cause about £1bn of improvements to the tawdriness of post industrial town planning. I quite like the flak towers in Vienna and Hamburg they are basically indestructible so the city can’t remove them. There are some elsewhere also, probably Berlin. Yep, some mad stuff built by mad people, fascinating really.
