Youth investment is a very important part of a team that plays in a small league like the Bruneian one.

For 2 major reasons you should invest in youth, either the Scouting Network or Youth Academy. First of all, bruneian players are rare. And everything that is rare is expensive. So a passable or solid 17 years old Bruneian player worths much more than, let’s say a polish player. This means young players should be a major source of income for your team. Second of all, top young players are important for Brunei National Teams, and if you manage correctly your Youth Academy or Scouting Network you can help the Brunaian comunity to progress and have better results at international level.

The Youth Academy
This article is being written especialy for those of you that don’t give to much attention to your Youth Academy, so here’s what you should do to increase your income and help your National Teams.

1. First of all, the younger the player is, the more money you can get for him. So there is really no reason to have players over 17 years and 40 days in your Youth Academys. Fire all players over 17 and a half years, but always have at least 12-13 players in your team! Also 3 scouts would be nice. Always ask the scouts to look for specific players(wingers, defenders, midfielders, strikers, goalkeepers)

2. Find a Youth League to play in. You could use the search option for youth leagues and find international leagues that are missing one team. You can also take a look an Global forum for a Youth League. There will always be a topic dedicated to Youth Leagues, something like this one (15229783.1)

3. Hire weekly a young player! How should a player worth signing look like? If he’s 15 years old and has a passable-excellent potential skill and weak-inadequate or better current skill. 16 years old players are also recomanded if they are promising. If the scout tells you something about overall skill, it should be weak or better. 17 years old players should be avoided. Also always accept the last scout, even if the player is bad.
If, let's say, your scout is looking for defenders and he offers you a player and says nothing about his defending skill(potential or actual skill) and has low skills, if you decide to take him into your Youth Academy, always play him first as a defender.

4. Who should you train? Definitely your most talented player. If you have a player with solid or excellent potential, then set the scouts to search for that particular type of player, hoping you will find more promising players so you can train them at the same time. Leaveing the scouts to search for “any type of player” is not such a good ideea.

5. In Youth Academy training work as in the senior team, but you don’t need a coach and you have Primary and Secondary training. You should train you midfielders, for example at Playmaking and Passing, you forwards at Scoring and Passing or your wingers at Crossing and Playmaking or Passing. Individual training is not a good solution. Primary training reaveals the player’s potential and Secondary training shows you his current skill. You could use this for finding out the skills of the player.

6. You can pull a player from the Youth Academy at your senior team only if he has turned 17 years old and has over 112 days(a season) in the Academy. Considering the players train faster in the senior squad, you should promote your young players as soon as possible, if possible at 17 years and 0 days.

7. If you have a solid or excellent coach and you want to keep training the player at his best skill, every week, you could keep him. Else, my advice is to sell the player as soon as possible.

Scouting Network
If you think this is too much for you and you don’t want to invest this much time into Hattrick, you can always invest 20.000$ in the Scouting Network and all you have to do is to click every week to recive a random player. He could be a nice one.
