Introduction

In the next, I will talk about those things, as well as correct a few things, because the YA has changed a bit.

Should you NOT open a YA?

I did not address this in the other post, but I will now. There are many reasons to open a YA, and a few reasons not to open a YA.

You should NOT open a YA if you do not have time to figure out how it works, and to figure out the best way to train your players. You may need up to 1 hour per week to do this, and an extra half an hour every 3 weeks (for friendly matches).

You should NOT open a YA if you are not making a profit over a 2 week period. By this, I mean your team finances should be in + every 2 weeks. The YA is not VERY expensive, but if you are not managing your finances well, you should not open a YA.

Reasons to Open a YA:

1. Profit.

You can make good money from your YA. Yes, you need to be a little lucky. And yes, you will not make ANY money in the first season. You must keep every player in your junior team for 112 days, so the first season is an investment in the future. You will make nothing.

However, if you manage your training well, and you are a little bit lucky, you can start to make money in Season 2. If you are very lucky, you can make a LOT of money. Also, remember this: Youth players from Jamaica are rare, and worth more than youth players from Iran, for example.

2. Trainees.

Many of us 'like' to train our own players. This is 'nice'. Over the seasons, you will sometimes get the chance to keep a player or two from your YA. But beware: You should not 'force' your YA to make players for you. Be flexible, and be patient. Good trainees will come, but it is much more important for the well being of your team to make MONEY!

:-)

3. Jamaica

Jamaica needs youth players. Many youth players. Good youth players. Jamaica needs many eyes looking for good players, and training them well. Your country needs you! If you can, and you have the time, you should open a YA for your country!

4. Fun

I think this is very important. The YA is one more game per week to watch and enjoy. One extra game in Hattrick. Yes, it can be frustrating. Yes, you may pull your hair out :-)

But in the end, Hattrick is a game, and we are not playing with real money. The YA is another way to enjoy Hattrick, and you cannot put a value on this.

Neighborhood Kids

Okay, congratulations, you have opened your YA! Now, the hard work begins. :-/

When you first get your YA, you have 16 players and they are all 'unknown'. You do not know anything about them. NOTHING! This is crazy! How can you tell if any are good?

Well, you cannot lol. Not until they play. So, a good idea is to use this time to learn about the YA, and about how to 'reveal skills'. I will talk more about this later. But know this: Usually, the Neighborhood Kids are hopeless. Usually. Sometimes one or two may be sell-able, but many, many will be Weak and worthless. So, do not fret about training them 'properly'. It's okay to make mistakes. Just move them around and see what you can find out.

Note: To 'Scout' a new player, you must 'fire' an old player. And I mean 'old'. Fire your oldest players first.

Stars?

I mentioned 'stars' for this part, and I would like to clarify. 'Attacking skills' (passing and scoring) have been changed, and now provide more stars. Also, Defending helps to provide stars for Goalkeepers.

Today, 5 stars is inadequate for defenders and for goalkeepers (with little defending), while 5.5 to 6 stars is inadequate for Midfielders, and 7-7.5 stars is inadequate for Forwards. Of course, a high Weak defender with some Playmaking could also get 5 stars, so this is just a 'guide'.

Wingers are still a major problem.

Let me explain. Wingers can get 5 stars with wretched (2) Winger if they have inadequate (5) Playmaking and Weak (4) to inadequate (5) defence. They can also get 5 stars if they have Inadequate (5) Winger and no other skills! They are a problem, and very difficult to understand.

Revealing Skills

In the YA, we can 'force' a skill reveal.

Current Level

For 'current' level of skill, we can find out the level if we use Primary training. Here is an example:

Let's say we want Player A's current PM (Playmaking) skill.

1. We must train PM as Primary training.
2. We must either play other players in training positions (IM and Winger) with current PM already known...
3. Or, we must limit the number of players in the IM and Winger positions.
4. Player A must play 44 mins in a training position.

So, we could play like this:

GK
WB CD WB
Known Known Unknown Known Known
Fwd Fwd

or this:

GK
WB CD CD CD WB
Unknown
Fwd Fwd Fwd*

Note: you MUST have 9 players on the field, or you will lose training.

If you train Playmaking as PRIMARY training in either of the above, you WILL find out Player A's current level of PM.

Skill Potential

If you want to know the maximum a player can be, you must train that player using Secondary training.

Let's say we want to know Player B's Scoring maximum.

1. We must train Scoring as Secondary training.
2. We must either play other players with known maximum in Scoring in training positions...
3. Or, we must play him alone up front.
4. Player B must play 44 mins in a training position.

So, we could play like this:

GK
WB CD WB
W IM IM IM W
Known Unknown

or this:

GK
WB CD CD CD WB
IM IM IM W
Unknown

Again, you must have 9 players on the field or you will lose training.

Also remember to use your Friendly matches well. Friendly matches provide somewhere between 50% and 75% of the training of League matches. They are good to 'try something different'.

Note: You will cancel the maximum skill reveal if you train the exact same thing as Primary and Secondary training.

Choosing a League

After you get your YA, you must find a League. Traveling to other countries for YA games has no cost. So it doesn't matter where you play. I strongly suggest you try to get a 4-team League.

Sure, getting a 16 team league makes things 'easy', but it does not give as much training. Here is the trick:

In a 4-team League, after 6 matches, your League will end. BUT, you can leave this League, and join a new one straight away. Same day. New matches: 1 day later. This will add one or two matches per season, which may be VERY important sometimes. So consider it strongly.

Often there are Leagues advertised here: (15083220.1) I hope there is also a similar thread for Jamaica.

Use it.

Note 1: Your trainer will also give you 1 'random' reveal of the potential skill of a player in a not-trained skill. It could be any player on the field. This is completely random and cannot be controlled.

Note 2: Training reports come to you 24hrs after the end of the game, not 24hrs after the beginning of the game.
