Local Only Policy [ Part I ]

Local Only Policy (also known as LOP) is a policy that require users to keep their youth players or make sure they stay and trained by a Malaysian. This is to ensure they can be trained to their full potential thus representing Malaysia U20/NT in the future. This would make U20/NT Malaysia more competitive.

There are many importance of LOP.

1) 100% locally trained
The main objective of LOP is to make sure most of the players who plays for our country are trained locally. There are many benefits for those who train a U20/NT player. The most sought after achievements (at least for me) is the prestige & honour for having a player who plays for their respective country. Most of all, you must be proud when one of your players play for Malaysia.

You can see the complete benefits here (under Having a National Team Player) (/Help/Rules/AboutNT.aspx)

2) High commitment training
Imagine that when your son is growing. As time goes by, you will need to nurture him so he can be useful to your family and the community in the future. This basic principle can be applied to your Youth Academy/Scouting Network players. Imagine the player you pulled weekly as your son. There must be some sort of feeling deep in your heart in which you want to see him being successful at your club and your home country.

Basically, local users have this weird feeling. This is what we called as commitment. And truthfully, we can turn this weird feeling into an advantage to improve our U20/NT.

High commitment + (hard work - giving up) = good player for U20/NT :)

3) Easier communication
As a scout, you will need to communicate a lot with player owners regarding training etc. Personally, having to communicate with someone outside from Malaysia [just a tiny fraction of them] who doesn't care about the phrase of 'long term training plan for U20/NT players' is quite intimidating. I found it easier to communicate with local users because the level of understanding is high and most of the local users have an excellent use of English & Bahasa Melayu.

LOP has a lot of benefits if we do it right. So, what are you waiting for? Grab a local youth player and train him.

P/S Not that I totally hate those foreigners who train our U20/NT players. I wish to thanked all those who have trained our players to the top. Without you all, it's quite hard to achieve something if we had to do it on our own :)

Your suggestions and comments are welcomed!
