Fast Money

We all have different approaches to this game, and one way is 'hoarding' a bit of money in order to go on a run. I've been looking closely at this idea for a while and believe I've come up with an almost foolproof way of making 100m $AU in just 2 seasons. All you need is a fair whack to start. And this is how...

Hattrick is a game. A game that in a lot of ways closely resembles the 'real world'. There is no closer resemblance to the real world than when you talk about profits. Specifically the old saying that the more money you have, the more money you can make. I found this to be very true as I have recently been obsessed with accumulating as much as I possibly can, in as short a time as possible. Before I elaborate further I'll just give you a quick example to reiterate my point.

2 seasons ago i decided to spend $15M on 10 trainees, some were a little more than 1.5M, some were less. I anticipated that they would be worth somewhere between $5-6M at the end of the 2.5 season plan each. You can check quite accurately using HT Box (http://ht-box.ru/training.php) or even better, HT-Spain (http://www.htspain.es/index.php?pag=train_calc) and perusing the Transfer market. These same players with an extra skill or even better secondary skill would be worth a lot more for me to buy, but again worth a lot more when it's time to sell.

So instead of making 10 x $4.5 million profit it could have been 10 x $6.5 million profit if i only had another 500k on each to spend or $5M. Even though my experience with this is yet to come to fruition, i should make $45-$15 = $30M in just a little over 2 seasons. That could of been $45 million profit if i had just $5M more to start, essentially tripling the extra outlay.

So how do you make $100M PROFIT in a little over 2 seasons? You need discipline and patience and money! Because without the large outlay there will be no large profits.

Using HT Box you can see the perfectly trained 17.0 solid keeper with an excellent trainer at 5% stamina, will hit Titanic about 19.0, or 2 seasons. This is hoping he gets a qualifier and no injuries. Why risk it and waste 2 whole seasons and fork out $1-1.5M for him? Check out the transfer market for the same player at 19.5-19.75yo and you can pick them up in high season or the first few weeks of the new season for about $5M, so we'll call that the top end purchase price.

Net profit if all goes well 10 x 3.5M = $35M. Not bad but all the planets need to align and it's nowhere near the elusive $100M. I suggest purchasing that player already trained in keeper for 2+ seasons and chucking some D on him. The closer to 20.0 the cheaper they become especially at the end of each season when market prices are poor. For the purpose of this lets work on 19.80yo because this gives you a little leeway before 20.0 and my calculations are based on selling at as close to 22.0yo as possible but before 22.55yo.

You are targeting 10 trainees who are approximately 19.80yo and have Titanic 15/20 keeper skill. You are aiming for a defence rating of at least weak but anymore for the same price is better.

Set piece is a plus but not necessary and will be hard at the $5M price tag, even late in the season. But as I will reiterate anything is possible and the market can be very unpredictable, so keep a close eye on it. Initial outlay is $50M which may not seem a lot but there are very few managers with the ability to earn and hold onto that kind of cash for long. Remember that for 2+ seasons you will not be winning many games unless you reside in Div VI. As such, this plan is good for rebuilding teams, or teams who are simply intent on accumulating money at the lower levels. And remember, the crowds will be low so income is a problem. Make sure you have some cash reserves to pay wages as these trainees become higher paid. So for the next 2 seasons or until they hit Brilliant. (HT Box has this set to 20.0-22.03) With the 4 weeks leeway we have, this should be easily managed unless huge injuries occur (which of course are unforseeable) but we do have some room to move. So now we have 10 x 22.0yo's with Titanic Keeper, Brilliant defence and maybe poor or weak SP. This is a great time to put some SP on if you haven't in the off seasons and really cap them off.

The transfer market suggests that old 22yo's fetch between $12-14M with the above credentials. You have 10 x very young 22yo's depending on how long you spend on SP and what time of the season it is. We are hoping to sell in peak times and fetch $15+M for these bad boys who will be very unique and rare. Buy for $5M sell for $15M x 10 = $100M profit in a little over 2 seasons.

Yes I understand there are many variables and when you remember that you only get 93% of sale price this brings the profits down. This is not an exact science and there are many variables that will come into play along the way.

This plan needs all but everything to fall perfectly into place to net the profits I'm suggesting, but I have no doubt it can be done. Yes you may not sell all your trainees for what you want and only make $90M or even $80M but who knows, could $100M be beaten?

Finally to wrap up I want to emphasise a few points that may or may not be obvious. Be patient when purchasing. ie. Don't overspend on one guy unless you have saved on previous purchases. Look out for secondaries and go for the trainee with weak or inad if you can. Buy at the end of a season and try and sell in the first few weeks of a new season. This will give you 2+ seasons to train and net the best profits. Remember that if you only make $80-$90M it's a job well done, but $100M in a little over 2 seasons is a reality and if you are patient and disciplined you can do it!
